Getting Ahead of Holiday Travel

Each year when the holidays roll around, we’re reminded that not everything is jolly during the Christmas season. Holiday traffic appears out of nowhere the week before Thanksgiving and doesn’t recede again until after the New Year. If you’re traveling for Christmas this year, get ahead of the game with Towne Lake’s Carwash and Detail’s holiday travel guide.

Avoid Traffic

No one wants to get caught in a two hour traffic snarl on the way to visit Grandma for the holidays. If you’re planning to travel for Christmas, Christmas Eve dinner, or a New Year celebration, pay attention to Atlanta traffic patterns. Monday-Wednesday leading up to Christmas promise heavy traffic this year, and the 26th of December is notorious for standstill traffic. The worst traffic days for Christmas shopping are December 23rd and December 26th. If you’re traveling long distances, make sure to leave well before quitting time the week of Christmas. Listen to the radio or download a travel app to follow real-time traffic information while you drive.

Pack Smart

trunk packed with presentsWhether you’re packing up presents and fruitcake to visit family in Smyrna or stuffing the trunk and trekking cross country, plan your packing to make this Christmas road trip run smoothly.

  • Leave space for extra presents, especially if you’re visiting family members who dote on the kids.
  • Never pull out of the driveway without an emergency roadside kit and extra phone charger.
  • If possible, leave before or after work traffic to avoid extending your trip indefinitely.

Get your car holiday-ready with a visit to Towne Lake’s Carwash and Detail. We’ll be here from 9am-1pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. We will be closed this year on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
